Happy New Year

January 1st, 2007 | Uniform Server

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you had a blast gettin into the new year.

Anyways, here, if you would like to help out, i am trying to get a HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7680n PC because my old custom-made-by-me pc is dead so i need a new one fast. Since my birthday was December 13, Christmas was December 25 and now its new year, you can help me out as a gift to get it.

Currently i have saved about $800USD for it and i have $500USD to go :( The cheapest price i have seen is $1299.99USD and then they add tax and all that. You dont have to give me everything, but hey if you wish :), but any amount will be helpful.

To donate, please click on “Make A Donation” to the right, under the navigation.

    LOL

Sorry, but you haven’t released a new UnServer for over a year now and are asking for a 500 Dollar donation???

Looks like feeding your bank account has become more important to you than feeding the community.

How about a new release? I guess donations are coming automatically if you bring yourself in peoples mind again with a new version…

    my 2 cents

 I actually approved this comment for a reason. You see most people would have probably delete it, but it made my laugh.

The funny thing Franky, is that you have no idea what i have done for the community. Or what i do. You have no idea about my life so please. I am not begging for donations, it is out of free will and no one except my co-developer has even donated so please do not get me started. I am a full time worker and a full time student. I work about 100+ hrs a week after moving out of my cousin’s house and getting my own apartment, so please dont even try and judge me!

Everything i have done, everytime i have donated only those who have been with me like AlleyKat can even judge. Here you are opening you mouth like you know me. I have never asked for donations or anything, even though people have sometimes asked where they can, but i needed this cause my computer was gone and i thought it would be faster so i can get back on my feet.

… not to continue the whole story in my head but just let me leave you alone, obviously u already proved you know nothing. :)

Why do you want this one in particular? It’s overpriced for what you are paying for. Intel just released the 4 series Core 2 Duos which are cheaper and just as fast. 2GB RAM for a media center seems a bit much. That’s more like a gaming rig but the video card is very low end.

You said you have $800, right? I can pick you out the parts for that price that would be equal to that HP and you wouldn’t have the hastle of dealing with HP (bad customer support). There are laptops that are pretty nice and have Core 2 Duos in them for under $1000 too. Have you looked into that?

On a side note, I just want to thank you for your hard work on getting such a useful tool out to the public for free.

I would love that if you could, i did do research, search and search and this is what i came up with…. I want something powerful, that i can run programs like 3Ds Max, Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver and all those powerful programs together without having it slow down on me. I multitask, a lot! so i need something on my level, know what i mean.

Here’s a bad ass Asus laptop with a Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 120GB hard drive, DVD, 15.4-inch widescreen LCD and free upgrade to Vista…all for $1000. Nice and thin/lightweight too.

I’ll work on the possible PC parts when the 4 series Core 2 Duos come out. They will really save a bunch of money for a PC build.

Its the PC i really need…. not a laptop… i need somehting powerful, has at least 500GB HD, 2GB RAM, and can beat or match a 2.14 Core 2 Duo Processor, but thanks though… still saving so there is still time….

Franky does have a bit of a point there ( using the wrong words of course ) although he I am sure he is not aware of what you meant to part of the php community. His point is that you left us with a buggy 3.3 and disappeared for a year only coming back to ask for a donation.
Thanks for Uniform Server. If I understand what you are saying you won’t have time for 3.4 in ages. Why not end-of-line the Uniform Server? Things come and go. Maybe someone picks it up, who knows.

lol, how sad. You must also be a new member, never left for a year. Was doing support…. there and here, but not for some long period as a year… and was still working on the server even when i was not here, *what you dont know. So please, no one is forcing anyone to donate. Its all free will, never asked for no ones money or donation before, just thought of this so i can get the pc faster and start full working on a faster computer than the 333mhz compuer i was using that crashed on me… If you have a problem with it, then please just turn your eyes elsewhere, its no problem. I am also saving money from my paychecks also… :)

    Hi Olajide Olaolorun,

I want to commend you on a fantastic job with your creation of this fine-tuned web server!! You go, ‘O’ ! ;) :)
I am working on a distributable website on cd (maybe even dvd) using your webserver…For those who give you bad props on your server don’t know what they are getting, I am going to throw you a few bucks maybe towards that new computer you stated up in the very top post. And for the other guy Franky, you SHOULD keep all rude comments aside, the guy works alone on this project and believe me, it’s a tough job…I don’t do it for a living, but I know the basics of server side programming and it’s a Pia..And for free? This is great, and did I mention it works like NO other server, because it WORKS ‘out of the box’ NOT like others say…

Thanks for the great work ‘O’ ;) I wish I had time to say more good things about this free program…

I am staying tuned for the miniserver that your working on…

Again, I commend you on the Fantastic Webserver!

    -Brian

Your bit of work has saved me many many hours on various projects. Not to mention just in general made my life easier. I think a thank you is in order!

And i should also be thanking you Jim, Thanks a lot for your donation of another $100. Really appreciate it.

I am a student, not that young though. So I cannot donate ca$h.
Even worse I am in this country on a student visa, so I cannot either work :( On the other side, I can give:
    a. Development of what you guys don’t have time to. In C, C++, Php/Sql, shell scripts, etc. - I like to write sockets in *nix. Also have a good knowledge of the BIOS (at the DOS old times I used to call interrupts as hell)
    b. At least 1 GB on my website for mirror, storage, everything.
    c. Also 1 GB on my FTP site, same as above.
    d. Part of my time for beta-testing, code-review, security advices (my major IS on Network & Security): buffer overflows, integer overflows, SQL injections, etc.
    e. Any other idea just ask.

Keep on the good job done.
