3.5-Apollo Released

Uniform Server 3.5-Apollo was just released today! Yay! Not a long wait right? Well, i hope not. This release is not a major release but it does feature updates, bug fixes and some patches around the server. Special BIG Thanks goes to Ric (aka) Mike Gleaves for helping out with the Beta and also patches/fixes.

This is the last step before 4.0 so version 4.0 is next. Go get it now!

The plugins are what i plan to start working on now… You can find everything in our SVN over at SourceForge. The installers are the major problem, so i guess i will have to start on that. The problem with me and the first go-round with the installers was i wanted too much features in it and wanted it to be extra cool… So don’t worry, this time i should be able to get what i want.

just upgraded to 3.5 Apollo. What a tremendous release this is, albeit a minor one, but a major performance leap for me.

I am using the same server platform win2000, 256Meg @ 500Mhz. Page Service Response jumped from 15sec to 3 sec consistently thru the http://www.

There is a change log included with every release. Check the /doc/ folder. Or even the SF.NET Download Note.

Apache 2 is a work in development.

Thank you for pointing out where to look. I was having trouble with the install script of Typolight on 3.5 but it would ran fine on 3.3. The nice table in the “What’s in the Uniform Server 3.5-Apollo package” section on UniCenter was pretty helpful at narrowing it down to eAccelerator. Disable eAccelerator when running install.php solve the problem.

Hmm… i wonder what the cause of that is… I guess the program is not compatible or something… where you getting errors or something?

There is a bug with port conflicts. There has to be an easier way of dealing with it. One option is to allow the user to use the existing apache and mysql, but set things up behind the scene to access the htdocs directory. The second option is to allow the user to select a port or apache and mysql with server_start.bat, but maybe check which ports are available.

The future unicontroller.exe might have this option…. But also, laziness is a thing killing developers nowadays.

Hi Olajide … Yep I do read your other sites … Melissa has a point! How do you know that you can run UniServer on a particular machine? I plug my USB stick into a machine and it fails, why!

I created a crude test script that addresses a similar problem:

It addresses a common theme I see on the forum, however it does not address the real problem.
