Re-Released 3.3 W/ Arrangements

Monday, December 26th, 2005

3.3 was released eariler today around 5-6:00AM cause i got back home 12:00AM on the 26th and was not home throughout the 25th. It was a rush release because i had lots of things to do and didn’t have time because i was also sleepy and tired. I fianlly got to release it but not as i expected. I UPXed a whole package and the size was reduced after packing it to a zip archive, but packing it to a 7z SFX archive proved wrong. The size was increased by 2Mib + the original package (without being UPXed) size for some reason and that kinda caused problems for me so i left everything and caught a 4hr sleep cause i was too tired.

Woke up 4hrs later and 3hrs after that, i got back on it. I have re-released 3.3 with 3 versions: 2 original and 1 UPXed package thats zipped. You might experience the server being slow to start up with the UPX version, thats because it decompressing. After that, shut it down and restart it and everything should work perfect :)
We also got a new topic in the forum stating that their are still problems with Win98 machines. For some reason, some Win98 machines are getting the “Out of environment space” error… looking up on that, but about the next release which should be in about a month, expect new things and new changes to the server. “keeping it a secret” :)

3.3 Released! + Merry Christmas!

Monday, December 26th, 2005

First, from the developers of The Uniform Server, we would like to say Merry Christmas! :D
[RE-edited]

Next, version 3.3 is released! The most awaited version in Uniform Server history is here and ready to kick off with just 5.79MiB in size! This is because 3 or more new things was added to the release package “out of the box.”

The server is also released in 3 versions: 2 normal, and 1 .zip UPX compressed. All 3 are tested and works perfect under all MS Windows OS. The UPXed version however may take a while to load the admin redirection page if your PC is slow. This is not a bug or a problem, but just the uncompression stage of the needed file.

With this version in motion, we can move on to other things like creating the installers for the plugins and implementing new technologies; but first, we take a break! :D Especially me :) I think i deserve it, or don’t i?

First i have to take a break cause school is about to start and i have to figure myself out. I’m also moving to an apartment with friends so i am trying to figure things out and my scheldule cause i also have a new job making subs :)
I will definately still be available in the forum for support, but you might not see me poking everywhere till next month or at least 3-5 weeks time. Oh, i might not have an internet connection when i move so that might also cause problems… might have to be checking things online at school :)
I will try and keep you updated about whats going on with me and the development of the server but for now, i am going to sleep! Been out all day (from 6:00AM in the morning) and i started work on this as soon as i got home at 12:00AM on the 26th!

Now, go download the server here! Its 6:45AM and i am off to sleep… tired.

Press Release: Uniform Server 3.3

Monday, December 26th, 2005

This was the press release. :D

Uniform Server 3.3 Released

Today marks the release of the awaited version of the Uniform Server. This release is the first stable release in over a year due to the bug in the start and stop system of the server.

(Uniform Server) December 25, 2005 — Over a year has passed since the last main and major release of the Uniform Server. Since then we have seen new things, new plugins come out for the expected version, and we have also seen tons of screenshots and beta releases of the near to come version, but today 3.3 was released to the public bug free, or so we hope.

The expected release is here and even critics and users claim it is one of the best release ever. Here are a feedback from users and critics of the server.

“AN AWESOME NO STEROIDS WAMPP PACKAGE” - MrX

“The Better WAMP Option” - Peter Jr.

“This release is packed with tons of addons and more capabilities than the other releases,” claimed Olajide Olaolorun, a developer of the infamous WAMP Server that is now being ran by about 30% of WAMP users. Its new Admin Panel is also user friendly and easy to use. “No more of that plain purple,” says an Unknown User from the old forum. While the new version may be jam packed with tons of new things ready for it, it still abides by the Uniform Promise to keep the server under 5MiB download size.

Through the years we have seen and probably used tons of WAMP Packages just because installing Apache, PHP, MySQL, Perl, or Python is a pain, but now, this peculiar WAMP Package is different. While being fully secured to the fullest, it is also a small and mobile package meaning you can carry it around in a Flash Drive and or Burn it to a CD. If you are are not a user of any WAMP Package, this is the best way to get started in the revolution. If you are, this is the better version for you to switch to. Forget XAMPP, Apache 2 Triad, and all those other humongous packages and switch to this lightweight and fully secured option.

About The Uniform Server Development Team:

The Uniform Server Development Team started back in 2002 under the leadership of Taras Slobodskyy. Taras Slobodskyy first started the development as a way for him to run live demonstration for his clients without having to upload the files to a live production server. Later on he opened the project to the public via SourceForge.NET as a lightweight solution to running an Apache HTTPd Server on the Windows OS. Since then, the development of the wamp package has continued.
